Hiking through the woods is one of my favorite activities and spring, one of my favorite seasons. With spring comes many stunning flowers but one of my favorite plants, that triggers fond childhood memories of walks through the woods, is the Mayapple or Podophyllum peltatum. Other common names are American mandrake, wild mandrake, and ground lemon. These little woodland 'umbrellas' sprout up just as the daffodils are dying off and sometimes Morel Mushrooms can be found growing amoungst them!
